Tourism
Linlithgow offers
a great deal for visitors to the town to visit , to view and to participate in.!!
The Linlithgow -a Great Visit! website for the Royal Burgh, provides a wealth of information about what there is to do and see in our Historic Town.
This is especially so when checking out Suggested Visits in the locality which includes variety of tours and places to see for at least ten days of enjoyable tourism.
A short stroll from the Star & Garter and you arrive at the Union Canal Society where you can enjoy a relaxing cruise
on the canal, or visit the museum and gain
an insight to the history of the
Union canal.
Alternatively a short stroll along the High Street brings you to
Linlithgow Palace, which overlooks the loch, one of the most picturesque views
in the Lothians.
Visit the birth place of Mary Queen of Scots, and
absorb the unique atmosphere of the building that has been central to so much of
Scotland’s history.
Our friends at Linlithgow Tours will gladly customise a walking tour for you and they can also arrange a cruise along the Union Canal for your group.
For the golfers visiting the area, Linlithgow is very well served with many
golf courses located near to the hotel.
In addition to the local courses there is also
Kingsfield Golf Driving Range, considered to be the premier facility of it’s type
in the country
with 22 floodlit driving bays – Laser Clay Shooting and Archery - all in all an excellent venue to
spend some of your relaxation time.
With St Andrews, Gleneagles and Muirfield championship courses within
striking distance of Linlithgow, the Star & Garter is the ideal
base for a
golfing holiday in 2008.
The Edinburgh Festival
Edinburgh is known as the Festival City and provides all year round Cultural
Activities. In July and August every year it is Festival time in the Capital
City, with both the International Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe. The Star
& Garter is the ideal base for festival goers – catch a train from
Linlithgow and you will be in Edinburgh in 18 minutes, take in a show and jump
on the last train back to the Star & Garter for a night cap.
The convenience
of the train station is well worth considering when looking for a good hotel
with ease of access to the wonders of Scotland's Capital.
